The artist behind Starristry

Discover the journey, passion, and unique vision that shapes every project at Starristry.

Starr is a multidisciplinary artist whose work moves between painting, design, fashion, music, and cultural storytelling. Born and raised in Southwest Atlanta, she carries a lineage shaped by musicians, professional athletes, stylists, and innovators — a family where creativity wasn’t a hobby, it was a way of life. Her grandfather, jazz legend Luigi Waites, and her family’s connection to Malcolm X ground her artistry in legacy, resilience, and cultural truth. Her mother helped pioneer Atlanta’s early braiding and natural‑hair movement, and her father, a former a professional football player, shaped her discipline, confidence, and drive.

Starr’s creative journey began in music and performance before expanding into visual art, studio work, and creative direction. She co‑ran a multidisciplinary creative studio that blended art, fashion, music, and community programming, sharpening her leadership and her gift for guiding others through their own creative breakthroughs. Her studies in Interior Design and Architecture at Chattahoochee Technical College built her foundation in spatial composition and color theory, while certifications in Small Business Management, Entrepreneurship, and licensed Shoe Design from FIT added depth to her design practice. Additional studies in Humanities and Psychology expanded her understanding of people, culture, and emotional expression.

Today, Starr’s work flows effortlessly between mediums — from paintings and fashion pieces to interior concepts and community art experiences. Whether she’s sketching, designing, teaching, or transforming a space, she brings clarity, warmth, and a deep sense of cultural connection to every environment she touches.

Additionally Starr is the author of a newly published book, now available on Amazon.
She is also the creator of Goop Clothes, her original fashion line, showcased on Instagram at @goopclothes and is a talented musician singer rapper songwriter.

My unique creative approach

What makes my artistic style different is the way I blend visual art with the rhythm, emotion, and storytelling I developed through years of rapping, singing, and creating in Atlanta’s music scene. My work carries the same pulse as the stages, studios, and creative circles that shaped me — bold, expressive, and rooted in culture. I approach painting and design the way I approach music: with movement, intuition, and a focus on how the energy should feel.

My clothing line, Goop Clothes, also sharpened my eye for color, texture, and attitude, teaching me how to build pieces that stand out and speak without words. Every project becomes a fusion of art, music, and style, creating work that feels alive, layered, and intentionally crafted. That blend of creativity, culture, and lived experience is what sets my approach apart.

The joy of bringing art to life

What I love most about bringing art and creativity to people and spaces is the peace it gives me. Curating events, setting a vibe, and turning a blank room into an experience feels like therapy. I love coordinating, organizing, and making things match — there’s something calming about seeing all the pieces come together. It’s my own little world where everything flows, everything has purpose, and everything feels intentional.

Creating for others gives me joy, but the process itself gives me balance. And yes, I’ll admit it — I take pride in making things coordinate. John Witherspoon said it best, and I live by it. Whether it’s colors, textures, décor, or energy, I love aligning everything so it feels cohesive, beautiful, and unforgettable. That’s the part of creativity that keeps me grounded and keeps me inspired.

"The way she blends visual art with rhythm and storytelling is truly captivating. Every piece feels alive and intentionally crafted."
